About

I began this search for the questions I had about the Washington DC riots in 1968.  I was thoroughly intrigued by why these riots happened, and the underlying unrest.  What I found was that it was not very challenging to find why they happened, but finding who started them, why exactly were they being so violent, and other analysis that would have been the answer to my questions.

I found that it was the African American community that was the initial community that was outraged by the death of Dr. Martin Luther King, and that also contributed to the riots.

Also, I found that although I did not get to live during that time, and understand the impact that Dr. King had, his influence was so great that his death sparked such an outrage that there was violence in the United States capital.

I was just frustrated at the general lack of information about this riot.  I was looking for statistics, street names, buildings, etc.  However most of that was not able to be found.

However, I loved looking at the history of this city that I live in now.  And I feel privileged to research the history, and to be a product of this amazing bravery that the citizens of that time had to stand up for what they believed in.
